Our partnership with Rwanda was initially inspired by the remarkable character of Rwanda’s leaders. In the past three years, f|o|r has observed the continued conviction and genuine desire of a majority of Rwanda’s leaders to put their countries needs ahead of their own. We have witnessed a degree of self-sacrificing dedication that is unheard of among national leaders. We have witnessed their dogged determination to improve every area of Rwandan life and governance—church, liberties, government transparency, justice, reconciliation, freedom, free markets, judicial, law, democracy, independence, and work ethic. While the work in each of these categories is clearly still in progress, it is also clear that a tremendous amount has been accomplished.

The extraordinary character and ability that we have seen in the leaders of Rwanda gives us the unique opportunity to participate in the work that they are doing, not as patrons but as partners. It allows us to play a small roll with the confidence that our resources and efforts will be used responsibly, not squandered by corruption and greed. This mutual trust frees us from the impossible responsibility of either doing or managing everything ourselves. Without this trust f|o|r would not exist; it is the cornerstone of all of our involvement.
